Andrew's miniature paintings are once again on show at The Mall Galleries in London (Sat Nav: SW1Y 5AH) as the members Royal Miniature Society gather to host their annual exhibition and awards. Andrew has six paintings on show, two of which (see below) have scooped awards. But if you want to see them you'll have to be quick as the exhibition is only on until 1.00 p.m on 9th December (admission is free).
If you liked the set of stamps that Andrew produced for the Jersey Post this year to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (see the June 2018 blog), then there is a chance to see some of the original artworks at Andrew's one-day exhibition held in North Yorkshire this November. The venue is Sunnyfield House, Westgate, Guisborough TS14 6BA on Saturday 17th November (10.00 a.m. - 4.00 p.m.) and entry if free. In addition to the stamp artwork (including the young tawny owl [shown above]) there will be original paintings (including this handsome Aplomado falcon [shown right]), limited edition prints and cards on sale. It is also a chance to come along and have a chat with the artist himself. For further enquiries please contact Andrew on 01751 430637
To celebrate 150 years of the Jersey Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Andrew has been commissioned by the Jersey Post to produce a set of postage stamps.
Each stamp represents a different aspect of the society's invaluable work as well as celebrating the work of their volunteer helpers. Published on the 25th May, they will be available for 2 years and can be purchased direct from: https://www.jerseystamps.com/en/Shop/Detail?c=1808&r=%2F Andrew recently scooped three awards at the annual exhibition of The Hilliard Society of Miniaturists including the prestigious "Best in Show". His painting of a red squirrel (just 128mm x 94mm) took all three prizes - a great honour considering the excellent standard of the other entires. Andrew's paintings, alongside all the other entries, can be seen (and purchased) in an online gallery at: http://www.hilliardsociety.org/2018exhibition.html We'd like to apologise to anyone hoping to see Andrew's exhibition starting this weekend at RSPB Saltholme on Teesside. Unfortunately the bad weather has made it difficult to get over the moors to set it up - we hope to remedy this early next week. In the meantime why not check out the new limited edition prints on our gallery page - among them this striking Roe Deer Buck.
From 3rd March there will be an opportunity to see an exhibition of Andrew's work on Teesside at the RSPB's Saltholme reserve (SATNAV: TS2 1TU). This will continue throughout March and April and will feature a mixture of original paintings and limited edition prints reflecting the wildlife of the reserve, including this new print of a barn owl called "Across the Marishes" (above).
What about this as a beautiful tea caddy as a Christmas present for the dog-lover in your family? Andrew was asked by luxury tea producers Newby Teas to produce an illustration featuring four breeds of dog (a Pekinese, a Char Pei, a Chow Chow and a Husky). These were to represent the four seasons and used to decorate a special limited edition tea caddy celebrating 2018, the Chinese Year of the Dog. The caddies are not available through Andrew however they can be purchased at:- www.newbyteas.co.uk/loose-leaf-tea/christmas/year-of-the-dog-tea-caddy. If you would like to see the original artwork Andrew produced of the dogs it will be among many of his paintings on show at Sunnyfield House, Westgate, Guisborough TS14 6BA on Saturday 11th November (10.00a.m. - 4.00p.m.).
